Practical Applications of AI in Finance, Python and machine learning for FP&A

Hi Reader ,

After teaching dashboard creation in the AI Finance Club and in the Accelerator many participants asked me:

“How do I know which chart to use?”
“Where can I find inspiration?”
“How can I make my dashboards look more professional?”

So I’ve added a new section to my website: the Dashboard Atlas.

It brings together 50 dashboard concepts for FP&A and beyond and each one includes a prompt to help you build it yourself.

Here’s what you’ll find 👇

1. A visual collection to get inspired

Explore 20 full dashboard concepts with working tabs and tooltips, plus 30 focused charts. Examples include a CFO Command Center, a Treasury Cockpit, a profit bridge, and a 13-week cash flow chart.

Open a design, explore it, change its colours, and take a screenshot for inspiration.

2. The prompt to build each one

Every example includes a ready-to-copy prompt, with options for HTML, React, or Excel.

Choose a design you like, copy the prompt into your AI tool, and adapt it to your own requirements. You have a practical starting point for building, testing, and refining your dashboard.

3. Help choosing the right chart

The interactive chart picker starts with what you want your audience to understand.

Are you comparing performance? Explaining a variance? Showing a trend or a range of possible outcomes?

It suggests a chart, explains what to avoid, and gives you examples and a prompt to get started.

4. Eight data visualisation principles

See common mistakes alongside better alternatives: misleading axes, too many colours, unclear labels, and forecasts that hide uncertainty.

Small changes can make your reporting much easier to understand.

5. The four levels of analytics

Explore how dashboards can help answer increasingly useful business questions:

→ Descriptive: What happened?
→ Diagnostic: Why did it happen?
→ Predictive: What might happen?
→ Prescriptive: What should we do?

Each level includes FP&A examples and ideas for where AI can help.

My suggestion: pick one report you create regularly. Find a design that fits the question it needs to answer, copy the prompt, and try building a first version with sample data.
